The Poetry Competition

The Poetry competition is an open competition for all ages up to 18.

Introduction

Some of the greatest poetry ever written has been created as a response to adversity.
Our competition theme of 'Breathing Life' encourages all participants to create impressions of hope for children with breathing disorders.

General

Art for life Poetry is an online submission competition.
Entries will be accepted from February 21st 2009 to April 3rd 2009.


Submission Requirements

  • Poetry submissions must include the participants name, age, title of poem and full contact details.
  • The poems should be written in English or Greek and should have no more than 25 lines.
  • Participants can enter up to two poems and images.
  • Participants are encouraged to include a written statement in support of their work.
  • Images that have been digitally altered will also be accepted, in either colour or black and white.
  • Images can only be submitted over the internet and must be in JPEG format, with minimum resolution of 3000 pixels in the largest dimension and maximum image size of 5MB.
Please note;
  • Entrants will not be notified of receipt of their entries.
  • All data submitted to the contest via the internet, including image data and personal information, will be managed by the Breathing Life Trust.
  • The Breathing Life Trust reserves the right to print entries for exhibition and to use winning entries in future publications to publicise the Trust's activites. All entries will be accompanied by their respective credits.
  • Winning entrants will be notified by April 11th April 2009. The decision of the judges will be final. No other correspondence will be entered into.

Competition Rules

  • To qualify to enter the competition you must be 18 years of age or under.
    The Breathing Life Trust reserves the right to verify the ages of prize winners.
  • In order to be considered for the prizes, entries must be received by the official closing date of Friday April 3rd 2009, and must fully comply with the individual submission requirements for each category. (see art and poetry competition categories) Entries received after the closing date will not be be considered by the judging panel.
  • By entering the competition, all participant's warrant that all the information submitted on their entry is correct and true.
  • No responsibility can be accepted for entries lost or delayed in transmission by email.
    The Breathing Life Trust has no responsibility for loss resulting from misdirected or incomplete entries arising from computable functions, virus, bugs or other causes outside its control.
  • Only Prize winners, 2nd and 3rd place finalists in the art and poetry categories shall be contacted by The Breathing Life Trust whose decision is final.
  • The Prize winners, 2nd and 3rd place finalists will be requested to make themselves available for promotional activities to include Radio and TV appearances.
  • The Breathing life Trust will have the exclusive right to use the artwork and poetry of the prize winning entries for future promotional campaigns although final copyright remains with the prize winning artists and authors.
  • The prizes are not transferable and cannot be substituted for a cash alternative.
  • In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, conduct or the results of the competition, the decision of the organizers shall all be final.
  • The Breathing Life Trust reserves the right to disqualify any participant if it has reasonable grounds to believe any of the rules have been breached.
  • The Prize winner's names will be published in a variety of media including the Breathing Life Trust website, Appeal cards and campaign literature supporting the Breathing Life Lung Centre for Children in Cyprus.
  • The Breathing Life Trust reserves the right to cancel or amend the terms of this competition at anytime without prior notice. Any changes will be posted within the rules on the site.
  • By entering this competition, participants agree to be bound by the above rules of the competition.
